5 Easy Ways to Become a Good Student.

In our student life, one question that always comes to mind is, how can we become a good student? How can we become a better version of ourselves as students? Every good student practices consistent diligence, always keeps themselves engaged with their lessons, and at the end of the day, becomes a good student. When we become good students, we not only receive affection from our teachers but also earn a reputation as a good student among our friends. In the family context, parents and neighbors often say that we are doing well in our studies. However, there are some distinctive traits or habits that good students follow in their daily study routines, which is why they become successful students. Let’s explore some easy ways to become a good student..

1.Habit of Regular Study

To become a good student, you must study regularly. You need to study for at least 7-8 hours a day, and during exam time, there’s no alternative to studying 14-15 hours. Through regular studying, you can maintain a sense of discipline within yourself, which will make you a better student. Suppose you study for 3 consecutive days, but on the 4th day, you decide not to study. What will you gain from that? Nothing at all! In fact, it will harm you because you will forget what you studied earlier, and you will need to go back and revise the previous material. This not only wastes your time and energy but also negatively impacts your focus and concentration. Therefore, to be a good student, you must avoid procrastination and study regularly, even if it's just a little bit each day.

2. Studying with a Routine

To study effectively, you must create a clear and specific routine. Every good student follows a study routine. If you have friends who are the toppers of your class, you can visit their homes and you will notice that they have a daily routine posted in front of their study tables. Therefore, you need to create a well-organized routine for yourself. Decide when you will wake up in the morning and when you will go to bed at night. You must keep a detailed track of how many hours you will spend on studying and how many hours you will allocate for other activities. If you can follow a routine like this and study according to the set time, I am confident that you will also become a good student.

3.Revision

After sitting down to study every day, try to recall what you studied the previous day or even earlier. Review those topics and see how much you remember. If you’ve forgotten something, go back and study it again until it sticks in your mind. This way, the chances of forgetting your previous lessons will be minimal, and at the same time, your brain’s capacity will keep improving. Once your revision is done, you can start learning new material. It’s natural to forget what you’ve studied, so don’t worry about it. Everyone has experienced the frustration of forgetting things. I, too, have often forgotten what I studied and then revisited it through revision to remember. Not only did I revise my past lessons, but I also used to revise everything I studied throughout the day before going to bed. By doing this, I noticed that the lessons would stay in my memory, and I could retain them for a long time. You can follow this method too if you’d like.

4. Study Difficult Subjects First

Whether you are having a good day or a bad one, you must study regularly if you want to become a good student. Therefore, every time you sit down to study, start with the subjects that are more difficult for you. For example, I am a humanities student, and some of my toughest subjects are English, ICT, and Logic. However, if you're a science or commerce student, the subjects you find difficult, such as Math, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and others, should be tackled first. Then, when exams approach, you can focus on the easier subjects. This way, you'll reduce your stress and stay ahead in your studies. Of course, after studying the tough subjects, it's helpful to follow them up with an easier subject. By following this method, you’ll not only stay on track for the exams but also perform better and achieve good results.

5. Asking Questions

One of the most common traits of a good student is that they know how to ask questions. Whenever a question arises in their mind, they immediately ask the teacher. There is a wise saying: "He who cannot ask questions can never truly learn anything." This is absolutely true. If you are unable to ask questions to your teacher, you will not be able to learn effectively. To know something, you must ask questions, and through questions, you will learn. I will share a fun incident with you. My teacher used to teach me, and I would ask him a lot of questions. One day, he told me, "Since you have such a strong desire to learn, keep asking me questions." I continued to ask questions and learned a lot. Whenever the teacher taught me, I paid attention to the lesson and asked related questions. After school, when I came home, I would sit down to study and write down any questions that came to my mind. The next day, when I returned to class, I would ask the teacher about those questions, and he could tell that I had studied at home. But one day, I didn’t take any notes from the previous lesson and didn’t ask any questions in class. The teacher immediately realized that I hadn't studied at home the day before. He said to me, "Only those who study regularly and maintain a connection with their learning can ask questions. Those who don’t study can never ask questions." That day, I realized the truth in his words—because I hadn’t studied the day before, I couldn’t ask questions, and I didn’t learn anything. So, I’m telling you: to learn, you need to study regularly and ask your teachers questions. Teachers never get angry when you ask questions; in fact, they get even happier because it shows that you are engaged in your learning.

To become a good student, you must stay connected with your textbooks. You need to study regularly and practice; only then will you become a good student in the end. If you become a good student, you will always be in the top position, but if you remain a poor student, you will always sit on the last bench. Always try to sit in the front row of the class. The front row is for those who study regularly and are attentive in class.
